I have the musical score from the film “Interview with the Vampire” in my head. I love that flick, and the score, by Elliot Goldenthal, is perhaps one of the most perfect movie scores I have ever heard. It evokes the gothic feel of the movie, not to mention Louis’ ongoing sense of horror and loneliness, so perfectly that the movie wouldn’t be the same without it. “Libera Me” is my favorite cue - it’s just absolutely brilliant. It’s also perfect autumn / Halloween music! My favorite time of the year!

This is a pic I took of myself tonight. I’m in the bathroom with the lights off. I’m looking in the mirror and lighting my face with a flashlight. I have the camera on a 2 or 4 second (can’t remember which) long exposure to let more light in. I did adjust the color balance of the pic in photoshop because it came out with a harsh red tinge to it because of the dull yellow of the flash light. But I LOVE this pic. It’s like my face is melting into the darkness…or forming out of the darkness. Light brushing away the darkness? Something like that I suppose. I’m feeling lonely, but with a tinge of hope, spirit, and whimsy. I hope you dig it like I do. :) Check out my accompanying post on www.commonterry.com for 9/15/2011.

This is a pic of my Dad, Mom, my brother, and myself taken at some point in the 70s. This is a professional pic taken in a studio that my parents had to pay for, so needless to say my Mom wasn’t pleased with the fact that I was making a funny face. In my defense, though, my Dad would do this in pictures all the time at home. I thought it was normal. Well…I suppose it is for us. :)

This is me, working at The Disney Store in Gwinnett Place Mall in 1992. This reflects my current mood of aggravated and tired. See the companion piece on commonterry.com for 8/29/2011.

Believe me, I was extremely tired and aggravated at the time, although I might not look it. I was tired of being in that place, listening to the same Disney songs over and over and over and over and over again, and aggravated with the people who let their kids come in there and just completely destroy the place. Stores in the mall always closed at 9p, but we were always in there until like 2am cleaning up and rebuilding everything afterwards. And that rancid uniform. It looks awful, but it was a billion times worse having to wear it.

All the about being said, though, I met a lot of awesome people working at the Disney Store, and I learned a lot about business and customer service. But Disney is a very controlling and strict company to work for, and I didn’t enjoy a lot of the ways they sought to crush the individuality out of all of their employees.
